COUNSELING FOR KIDS GRANT

Eligibility & Selection

​

Priority is given to K–12 educational institutions across South Dakota. Recipients are selected through an application process led by the Better South Dakota Board in collaboration with the principal and superintendent of the chosen school.

​

Award Structure

​

The award is a one-time financial grant funded through the annual Counseling Program allocation.

​

Use of Funds​

​

Grant funds must be used to strengthen the school’s counseling services. Schools have full discretion in how funds are allocated, including, but not limited to, hiring or contracting additional counselors, purchasing educational materials and program resources, funding local field trips, or supporting other initiatives that enhance student mental health services.

MANNY CHRISTOPHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility & Selection

Priority is given to one student currently enrolled at Roosevelt High School taking the personal finance course during their senior year. Selection is done through an application process evaluated by Eide Bailly.

Award Structure

​

The award is a one-time financial scholarship.​

LONG LIVE MC SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility & Selection

​

Priority is given to one student currently enrolled at Dakota Wesleyan University who is in the institution's football program, and one student currently enrolled at Dakota Wesleyan University who is a part of the business program. These students should embody the gritty, hardworking spirit of Manny Christopher. The recipients will be selected by the institution in cooperation with the Director of Financial Aid, Head Football Coach, the Chair of the Business Department and the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Award Structure

​

The award is a one-time financial scholarship, and shall be in addition to other scholarships. Awards are not recurring and will be given in October of the current year to be used for the following spring semester. â€‹

EMMANUEL ANNIVERSARY GRANT

Eligibility & Selection

​

Priority is given to a business or educational institution in South Dakota. Recipients are selected through a member vote held by the Better South Dakota Board.

​

Award Structure

​

The award is a one-time financial grant.

​

Use of Funds​

​

Grant funds are to be used at the discretion of the chosen business or institution to enhance mental health services offered.  

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY GRANT

Eligibility & Selection

​

Priority is given to a counseling or mental wellness business in South Dakota. Recipients are selected through a member vote held by the Better South Dakota Board.

​

Award Structure

​

The award is a one-time financial grant.

​

Use of Funds​

​

Grant funds must be used to strengthen counseling services at the given business.

BETTER SOUTH DAKOTA SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility & Selection

​

Priority is given to seniors in high school looking to extend their educational journey's at a university in South Dakota. Recipients are selected through an application process led by the Better South Dakota Board.

Award Structure

​

The award is a one-time financial scholarship.

​

Use of Funds​

​

Scholarship funds must be used for educational advancement at the collegiate level.
