WHO WE ARE
Our 501(c)(3) initially formed in August of 2022 as a nonprofit foundation under the name of Long Live MC, in memory of Emmanuel "Manny" Christopher, who was tragically lost to suicide in January of 2021. Though initially founded to remember Manny, we feel a responsibility has been given to us to touch as many lives as possible. Therefore, in October of 2024, after just two years since our inception, Long Live MC made the transition to rename to Better South Dakota.
OUR MISSION
Better South Dakota's mission is to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention across South Dakota.
We know meaningful change takes consistent action. That’s why we’ve established three core initiatives that guide our charitable work and drive our impact every day:
Counseling - Grounded in our early intervention approach, we support K–12 schools by addressing counseling program needs through our annual $10,000 Counseling for Kids Grant.
Faith - We proudly represent our faith by partnering each semester with a local church or faith organization to provide our
Strength in Weakness Grant, a dedicated fund focused on supporting youth mental wellness through faith.
Giving - We create hope and opportunity through scholarships and grants for students, businesses, and community members in need, investing directly in the people who shape South Dakota’s future.
